Me: Hi Aunt/Uncle/Second cousin one removed! How are you?
Relative: Wow! You're so tall! Do you play basketball?
Me: *exasperatedly, since I've been asked this question at least once a year since I was 12* No, I don't.
Relative: Oh. Volleyball?
Me: *sigh* No, just because I'm somewhat tall doesn't mean I have any sort of athletic ability.
(Note: These relatives are Asian and none are taller than 5'2". Therefore, at a proud 5' 8 1/2," they think I should be hanging out with Jeremy Lin. Little do they know that the only way my size has come in handy in athletics was blocking people this past flag football season, because as my captain could tell you, there's a reason why I was never picked to be a receiver. Or a QB. Or received any instructions other than, "Block so-and-so.")
Thankfully, my classmates are full of athletic prowess (it seems that every other person was a varsity athlete in college), so they weren't desperate enough to recruit me to play in the annual M1 vs. M2 girls basketball game last month. Seeing as how we were the first second-year class to get beaten by the first years in the annual tackle football game, our honor was at stake. Our ladies pwned those first years, 24-18, and then went on to play the faculty team, and while they fought valiantly, they weren't able to conquer the PCOM Testers and lost, 31-27. Hopefully our M2 men can give us a 2-1 winning record against the M1s at the upcoming men's basketball game, which will benefit Gloves for Love Pediatric Cancer Foundation, created by one of our classmates.
